LinuxUSER bietet in seiner neuen Ausgabe (05/07) unter anderem eine wirklich gelungene OpenMusik-Doppel-CD an. Sie beinhaltet Lieder von deutschen jungen Künstlern, die in einem “Open Musik Contest” ihre Werke vorstellen. Bedingung: Alle eingestellten Titel müssen unter der Creativ-Commons-Lizenz stehen. Das bedeutet, dass jeder die Lieder, samt Booklet und Label kostenfrei herunterladen und - ganz Linux-like - frei anhören kann. Wie ihre Vorgänger, enthält die dritte Ausgabe für jeden Geschmack einen Mischmasch von Rock bis Pop bereit. Reinhören lohnt sich also!

Als Downloadformat wird OGG-Vorbis angeboten. OGG ist eine freie und von Softwarepatenten unbeschränkte Alternative zu propitären Formaten (mp3 und wma). Sie kann unter Windowsnutzern mit foobar2000 oder anderen Audioplayern abgespielt werden. Winamp unterstützt meines Wissens dieses Format nur mit einem Plug-in. Linuxler können ganz unbesorgt ihren lieblings Audioplayer benutzen. Ogg wird dort standardmäßig unterstützt.
